This install is from Feb. 2009 in Santa Cruz, CA. The picture has one downspout and four 55 gallon barrels. Another downspout on the same house has 5 barrels on one downspout. The barrels were filled in the first week of rain. Total gallons saved 495!

Landscaping bricks elevated this barrel for better flow.

This a Double Capacity System using pickle and jalepeno barrels. They were placed around the corner from the side of the house so they could not be seen from the street.

I got an open-top rain barrel from my city. Rather than be overly cautions about overfill drainage, I installed a valve to turn off the diverter when the barrel gets full.

Here is my starting point, decorations and landscaping will come later. The install was super easy, less than an hour to do the entire install. The hardest part was the leveling of the barrels.
